“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.” (Hebrews 1:1, 2)
The world is an incredibly large place. While I’ve not been many places in this world, I like to watch a channel on YouTube that rotates views from live cameras from around the world. One may be the skyline of Sydney, Australia and the next a bird feeder in Poland. The one’s that I marvel at the most are the mountain ranges and beach scenes. The beauty of the world is seen in brief snippets, but they are enough to tell that the world is an incredibly large AND beautiful place. And we have Jesus Christ to thank according to the verse in Hebrews.
Not only is the world incredibly large, but the universe that He also created is incredible to study. Did you know that the dark spots on the sun, “sunspots”, have the equivalent brightness of an arc welder? They just appear dark because the sun around it is so much brighter. The orbits of the planets, our moon, and the placement of the stars in the vast expanse of the universe all point to an intelligent designer!
We know this by faith, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible” (Hebrews 11:3). This denotes not only the physical world, but the past, present, and future age to come. God is in control of it all! And Jesus Christ who upholds all these things by the word of His power loved us so much that He died for us…and that may be the biggest takeaway when you look at the creation.
As perfect and breathtaking as the universe may be, with every detail worked out and everything in its place, Jesus said we are of more value than all the creation! “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26).
We need to continually praise God and worship Him for His greatness!
