Grace & Salt

Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt – Colossians 4:6

How To Kill Your Kids

Recently, there have been revelations from undercover videos on Planned Parenthood on the selling of intact fetuses. It’s not surprising to read in the news a father that shakes a baby to death because they will not stop crying. As long as evil is in the world, people will continue to kill their children, taking their physical life from them. But this is not what I want to write about, at least not physical death…

I’m talking about spiritual death.

The word of God is clear, parents need to bring their children up in the “training and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). This is not always easy but it is the best way. The inspired writer Solomon recorded, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). However, if you want to kill your kids spiritually, here are some ways to do it:

  • Allow them to act like the world. Watching movies full of sex and violence, posting material online that is inappropriate. Let them “experience life.”
  • Allow them to be in places that are filled with temptation. Dances, dates, parties where alcohol will be present. Let them have a “good time.”
  • Allow them to dress in ways that promote lust in the opposite sex. Bikini’s on the beach, guys shirtless, tight fitting clothes. Let them “look cute.”
  • Allow them to disrespect you and your authority as a parent. Talking back, arguing, cussing. Let them “express themselves.”
  • Allow them to disrespect the authority of God. Not attending worship, supporting sinful lifestyles, mocking the Bible. Let them “find their own way.”

Please understand, this article is not an indictment of you as a parent. Allow this article to be a reminder that there is a real danger in our children being lost spiritually. I can have assurance of eternal life as a parent, but if I lose my children to this world, I have failed. Let us not be so busy with trying to save the lost in the world and forget about the souls of our children.

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).

Parents, choose to serve the Lord and bring your children with you. Help them understand the value of their soul in the eyes of God. Teach them that doing right is not always popular. Explain to them your love for them. Stop killing your kids!
