Grace & Salt

Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt – Colossians 4:6

Glory To God In The Highest

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” — Luke 2:14

When the angels appeared to the shepherds in Bethlehem’s fields, they brought with them a song of both praise and proclamation. In one simple yet profound sentence, they summarized the heartbeat of God’s plan for humanity: glory to God and peace for mankind.

“Glory to God in the highest” reminds us that everything begins and ends with the glory of God. The word “glory” refers to God’s magnificence, His infinite beauty, and the display of His presence. In sending Jesus into the world, God revealed Himself to us in the most personal way. The birth of Christ was not just the arrival of a baby; it was the unveiling of God’s glory—wrapped in humility and clothed in human flesh.

The angels didn’t declare this praise quietly. Their voices filled the skies, and all of heaven celebrated because the Savior, the one foretold for generations, had finally come. This teaches us that God’s glory should be central in our lives. The glory of God fuels our worship, shapes our purpose, and gives meaning to everything we do. We were created to reflect His glory, to live in a way that points back to Him.

But the message doesn’t stop there. It continues: “and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” The birth of Jesus brought the hope of peace—not simply the absence of conflict, but deep, spiritual peace. Through Christ, God extended His goodwill and favor to a broken, sinful world. Jesus is our peace (Ephesians 2:14), reconciling us to the Father and offering rest for our weary souls.

This Christmas season, and every day beyond, let us pause and echo the angels’ song. Let us give glory to God for His gift of Jesus—the Prince of Peace. In a world marked by chaos, fear, and unrest, we can carry His peace within us, sharing His love and goodwill with others.

Is your life bringing glory to God? Are you living in the peace that Christ offers? The angels’ message calls us higher—to glorify God and to embrace the peace He freely gives.
